Summer Series Results

Summer Series Results

After a bit of a blog drought we are now going to have a deluge (global warming, increased volatility!). As I said in my R6 report, the series came down to the wire with Family Affair playing disrupter for half that race getting in front of Sub Zero. However, normal transmission resumed and by getting back to forth Sub Zero was able to close out the scratch results Well done me!). For anyone that has been following these results it will come as no surprise that it is a big congratulations to Rapscallion for taking the handicap honours.
Auckland Champs - 2018

Auckland Champs - 2018

In the weekend 24-25 March Taikata held its Auckland Frostbite Champs. The club welcomed a new sailor (who had obviously done it before) sailing a borrowed Boat (Asahi). Day 1 was a brisk wind giving some exciting moments for all. The scratch results were shared evenly among 3 boats. Days 2 saw a complete change with very light winds. The competition was then done to two with our visitor in Asahi taking the honours. With the new handicaps set for the second half of the season it was Limeburner that prevailed in the handicap stakes. We must acknowledge that Ashia was pushing here also taking out second place. Well done to all the sailors and thanks to the support personnel!
Summer Series Race 6 2017-18

Summer Series Race 6 2017-18

The last race of the Summer Series was successfully completed yesterday with the final series result going down to the wire. But that is the subject of a later post. A 10 boat fleet fronted in light and stable conditions. As commented by Matitia, Footprint applied a size 9 to our respective back-sides and raced away with a well deserved win. Such is the state of play that I get the reuse the next sentence. Rapscallion maintained the status quo by taking handicap honours.
Summer Series Race 5 2017-18

Summer Series Race 5 2017-18

After a cancellation due to no wind two weeks ago, the fifth race of the summer Champs was completed. An 11 boat fleet hit the water for the main race. Was also good to have the Mirror and 2 optimists out on the water enjoying the conditions. It was good to have a new sailor to the club making use of the club boat.   Not so good for the regulars as he was on fire and sailed Brooke to take the gun. Rapscallion maintained the status quo by taking handicap honours.

Summer Series Results

Summer Series Results Summer Series concluded back in February with the Trophy Day race also counting as the last race of the series. Weather was not kind for this scheduled series! However, this does not take away from the closeness of the results. While Shocker already had the scratch title in the bag (and didn’t turn up), there were a couple of boats in the hunt for the handicap title. So the title goes to: Scratch – Shocker Handicap – Frenzy
2017 Cruise Race

2017 Cruise Race

2017 Cruise Race After cancelling the Cruise Race scheduled for Labour Weekend, Race 1 of the Winter Series was re-purposed for this race. 14 boats fronted in anticipation of a pleasant cruise to Hobsonville and back. After a mid-race course change, Family Affair took this one out by over four minutes ...
Mahurangi Regatta 2017

Mahurangi Regatta 2017

Mahurangi Regatta – A lively sea trying to climb into the boat and a steady breeze provided for an exciting and quick race. The low tide after meant teamwork was required to remove all the boats from the water. Congratulations to Limeburner made it to the photo gallery
R4 Summer Series

R4 Summer Series

A great day with an 18 boat fleet hitting the water for the main race. And good to see 4 optimists out on the water also. While the sun shone down the wind was a little fickle making for a little longer on the water than usual. However, some things were consistent, Team Effort taking the gun and Family Affair taking handicap honours. Click Read More>> to see the results table.
